Northern Rock Bank Case Study
Miss J contacted Scottish Claims in February 2010 as she believed she may have been sold a Payment Protection Policy with her Northern Rock loan. The loan had been settled in 2007 and she had no paperwork in relation to the loan.
Scottish Claims contacted Northern Rock on her behalf and when we received the loan agreement noted Miss J had borrowed £25000 in 2004 and had indeed been sold a payment protection policy which had been added to the loan.
We were satisfied the policy had been mis-sold as Miss J did not need the policy and understood, when she took out the loan that the policy was simply part of the loan. We wrote to Northern Rock detailing reasons why we were confident the policy had been mis-sold in April 2010.
Northern Rock were unable to deny the complaint as a result of the arguments we raised on behalf of Miss J and in May 2010 she recovered £10542 from Northern Rock.
